Project Overview

This project comprised the construction of an extension to an existing manufacturing facility providing chassis units for BMW and Range Rover. The works comprised the construction of a 40k square foot extension with internal two storey office building together with external concrete yards and roads and a new 38 space tarmacadam car park with storm water attenuation beneath.

All works were undertaken in two phases to suit the clients access requirements across the site throughout the project and the external areas and factory remained in 24/7 operation throughout the construction period.

The building design consisted of a steel framed structure with pre cast concrete lower walls and profiled metal cladding to external walls and roof areas on vibro piled foundations and insitu concrete ground floor slab to FM2 standard. Services installations comprised heating and lighting with plumbing air conditioning and power to office areas, in addition PV solar panels and automatic smoke ventilation were installed.

The extension is linked to the existing unit via large rire shutter openings inserted into the existing factory wall whilst the facility remained fully operational.
